Costa Rica does not Recognize Government of Maduro in Venezuela

The Government of Costa Rica joined the Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and St. Lucia in not recognizing the start of a new government of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela for the 2019-2025 period. The countries, part of what is known as Grupo de Lima, consider that the electoral process that took place in Venezuela in May 2018 lacks legitimacy since it did not have the participation of all Venezuelan political parties or the presence of international independent observers, or the guarantees and international standards necessary for a free, fair and transparent process….
